OTT Ads Are Non-Skippable

A major difference between OTT and social media advertising is that OTT ads typically cannot be skipped.

When someone is watching a show on Hulu or Peacock, the commercial break works just like traditional television. The ad runs, and the viewer watches it before the program resumes.

The other advantage is the screen size and the lean back vibe.

Most OTT viewing happens on living room TVs, not phones. Your ad isn’t competing with someone scrolling through Instagram. It’s appearing on a full-screen television while someone is actively watching a show.

That combination, non-skippable ads on a big screen, is one of the reasons OTT advertising tends to have much stronger brand recall than typical digital video ads.
